Blade Runner 25th Anniversary Interview with Scott

Ridley Scott made a masterpiece, several in fact, but the one near and dear to this nerd's heart is Blade Runner. In December, I don't live in the two cool cities, there will be a release of Blade Runner: The Final Cut, which is Scott's final cut of the movie, hence the title, where we see what Scott really wanted us to see 25 years ago before the bond company took over and made it different.

Wired has a hell of an interview out right with Scott over the new release coming out, in theaters in LA and NY in October with a release in December for the DVDs.

Klingon Karma Sutra

The Klingon Karma Sutra is a reference manual all those people out there who wish they were Klingon. There area lot of them out there or Star Trek wouldn't be as big as show as it is, not would there be people who actually get married in Klingon on grab. I wish I was joking about that too, but I'm not.

A Klingon woman expects to be wooed with poetry, but the male should be prepared to duck. She will roar and fling heavy objects. Once the male has made some progress, she will claw at him. When she is prepared to mate, she will bite him on the face.

(...)Lesson Three: yIn DayajmeH 'oy' yISIQ To understand life, endure pain. For Klingons, pain is a spiritual test, and it can also be a celebration of life. Biting is an important part of Klingon mating, and a broken clavicle on the wedding night is considered a blessing upon the marriage.

The Klingon Karma Sutra like it's Terran copy is NSFW, but I can assure that the Klingon version is a productivity stopper rather than "something to try later(with my real doll.)."

Punisher news

The third Punisher movie, yeah I count the Dolph one, because it fucking rocked!, will start filming in a month in Montreal, which means this film is suppose to take place in New York. At least they are placing the Punisher where the character started off at, New York.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Punisher Ray Stevenson (Rome) will be joined by Dominic West of the Wire, who will play Jigsaw, "a mob assassin whose face was torn to shreds and stitched back together like a jigsaw puzzle." Doug Hutchison, that one guy from that one movie, will play "LBJ aka Looney Bin Jim, a chemically unbalanced lunatic who considers the world his own private killing field and goes on a maniacal rampage." And Newman from Seinfeld (Wayne Knight) will play "Microchip, the Punisher’s armorer and confident — the man who supplies him with his stockpile of weapons and one of the few people who knows the Punisher’s true identity."

Wayne Knight? WTF?!

Naked Holes

I'm not writing about fornication of pornography… perverts.

I'm writing about a new theory, called the naked hole. It's a space thing. Maybe you should read about it. Wired has a good article about it.

Google has some issues…

This is one of those post that you need to read. It's a post on Google. You know Google. I know Google. Everyone knows Google. They may not know what a google is, but they know the company. At least anyone who has gotten on the internet has had some interaction with Google. Passively through banner ads, look about on this page, or through search functions.

You know Google. Period.

If you use Google's Gmail, then you're going to want to quit looking at that page you view along side this page and read well. You need to check your GMail filters to makes sure that there isn't one that has been forwarding you mail to someone else.

This is a vulnerability in Gmail that hasn't been fixed. Yet. Hackers have found this out. Odd thing about Hackers, even though you get those hackers who create virii to screw with your computer, you still get those that check the empire for holes. When they find a hole, most will contact the company and tell them that it they don't fix the problem, we'll tell the world about this problem.

The linked article will tell you of several hacks that are out there right now that Google hasn't repaired.

I'm not trying to incite panic, most people don't know jackasses that would do something like that. But some people have friends who know and you might lose the naked photos of your girlfriend/boyfriend/pet.

Demo Rights Revert

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan Announce ‘Demo’ Rights Reversion

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- September 23, 2007 -- Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan announce the immediate and full reversion of publishing and other media rights for their critically-acclaimed comics series Demo.

First published in 2003 by AIT/Planet Lar, Demo challenged the format of the typical superhero book for a grounded and more realistic look at the personal lives of young people with unusual powers. The unconventional series was nominated for two Eisner Awards and has seen print in multiple languages. Wizard Magazine named it the “Indie Book of the Year”, Comic Book Resources said it’s “what the X-Men would be if they were created today”, and Variety proclaimed it “more human than mainstream comics dare to be.”

“Demo is one of the most important things I’ve done,” series writer Brian Wood said. “And it’s been my continuing mission for it to reach as many people as possible. We’re currently exploring options and offers from other publishers with that goal in mind.”

"Working on Demo was a real turning point for my career in comics and as also an artist;” artist Becky Cloonan said. “Now this opportunity marks a turning point for Demo itself."

“We will update readers and retailers when future plans for Demo are finalized,” Wood said. “Should be soon, so stand by.”

Brian Wood is currently writing DMZ and Northlanders for DC/Vertigo, The New York Four for DC/Minx and Local for Oni Press. Becky Cloonan is currently illustrating American Virgin for DC/Vertigo and writing and illustrating East Coast Rising for Tokyopop. We stuck behind the L and the G trains

Geeks taking things to the next level as always, there is now available on the interweb, a subway map of all the major sites and technologies. It's very smart to look at it all. The connections that each bit of technologies lead to another. The site itself has links to a PDF and poster size that you can hang on your wall. Which when you get down to it, would be a perfect thing to have on your wall. A list of sites to his up.
