Hell hath no fury . . .

. . . like a fanboy forced to wait an extra month for his Wonder Woman funny book. On the DC Boards, "khellendros" has started up a thread imploring other devout WW readers to join in a letter-writing campaign to get the current WW editor fired. He writes in a "To whom it may concern" letter (and note the liberal mis-use of polysyllabic words. Not judging. Just saying):

a hyped launch of an unnecessary thrid volume has now been propagated by alot of negative situations:

1. Main Author Allan Heinberg's chronic late scripts
2. Gorgeous Artwork of the Dodsons... delayed (yet fresh and detailed).
3. Donna Troy, as Wonder Woman in our main, 65 year old protagonists place?
4. The second issue of this 're-launch' that was forced on us is now delayed by one month?! To August 9th?

Why call for the editor's head when it's apparently Heinberg and the Dodsons who have been delayed with their work?

The main entity responsible for coordinating art and writing and delivery is the editor. Wonder Woman sales were on the rise prior to her re-launch

Of course, any time a fanboy makes a statement of fact like that, we're going to feel compelled to seek verification. Start out from June 2005 and examine sales through the end of the series in Feb, 2006. That will give you the sales figures for a couple of issues before the big "Sacrifice" tie-in in #219. Note the "bump" in the sales that follow. Although some new readers stuck around following the Max Lord twist off, it's hard to say that the numbers were "on the rise" (all sales data courtesy of the CBG website):

  • #217: 30,000 (June '05) + 1,700 (July '05) = 31,700
  • #218: 34,400 (July '05)
  • #219 (1st printing only): 53,500 (July '05) + 32,600 (Aug. '05) = 86,100
  • #220: 38,400 (Aug. '05) + 1,500 (Sept. '05) = 39,900
  • #221: 52,900 (Oct. '05)
  • #222: 47,000 (Oct. '05) + 2,000 (Nov. '05) = 49,000
  • #223: 49,300 (Nov. '05)
  • #224: 47,200 (Dec. '05)
  • #225: 42,600 (Jan. '06)
  • #226: 45,700 (Feb. '06)

But we digress. Khellendros continues:

and now we are forced to endure yet another delay? With no editorial explanation. That denotes poor planning, a lack of customer empathy and failure to provide not even an ideal but cursory customer experience.

Yes! Sing it, khellendros!!! I hate the new direction for the re-disco-fied WW too, but I mean come on wtf, they expect us to actually wait another whole friggin' month for this piece of crap?!?! I WANT MY POS WW NOW, DAMMIT!!! NOW!!!!!!

WW is part of balanced sanity. Some fanboys swear its the new food. Poor soul.
